Build the fields that define how records are stored.
Structure concept
The structure of a dataset is made of fields. Each field becomes a column or input area in the data entry form.
Owner-only changes
Only the dataset owner should modify the dataset structure. Shared users may enter or view data depending on permission, but they should not change the underlying field structure.
Before changing structure
- Check whether records already exist
- Avoid deleting fields that contain important information
- Export a backup before major changes
- Inform shared users before changing a live dataset
